Achieving technological independence in the human blood plasma fractionation chain is a strategic goal for the country in pharmaceutical biotechnology. In this scientific monograph, we review the achievements of Nojin's R&D in localizing advanced membrane separation methods.

Technical Challenges in Biomolecule Separation Process

Plasma is a biological fluid containing over hundreds of types of active proteins whose separation without destroying the 3D structure and denaturing the biomolecules requires precise control of temperature, pH, and ionic concentration. Traditional separation processes (Cohn method) based on ethanol precipitation, although effective, lack sufficient efficiency for the complete recovery of immunoglobulins and rare coagulation factors.

Realizing the stability of the supply chain of plasma-derived drugs in the country is beyond an economic goal; it is a national pharmaceutical security necessity in critical situations.

Fuzzy Ultrafiltration Technology in Nojin Laboratories

The team of Nojin researchers stationed at the National Institute of Genetic Engineering (Pajouhesh Blvd) has successfully implemented a fuzzy ultrafiltration system by optimizing multi-layer polymeric membranes. As a safe and cost-effective alternative, this system enables rapid concentration and dialysis of proteins without the need for destructive chemical additives.

Using this methodology, the final product of albumin and immunoglobulin reaches an extraordinary purity level of 98.5%, fully complying with USP and BP international pharmacopoeias, severely reducing the risk of secondary allergic reactions in special patients.
